I am lucky to have been doing the job I love for 25 years. I believe that, as teachers, we are in a unique position to nuture children's passions and interests whilst developing a lifelong love of learning. I am priviledged to be headteacher of Longsands CP School, it really is a special place to be a part of. I am passionate about the power of reading and I love to share stories with our children (I am already planning my costume for World Book Day!) In my spare time, I am kept busy by my teenage boys, who were both Longsands pupils, and my English Bulldog, Loki. I also love motorsport and enjoy a Sunday afternoon watching the Formula One.
I have been teaching for over 13 years and my favourite subjects to teach are English, art and history. I am also passionate about children's fiction; my favourite book is called 'The Last Bear' by Hannah Gold (you should read it!) and my other hobbies also include cooking/baking, keeping fit and being outdoors. I am a mum to five teenagers who keep me very busy in my spare time. We have a pet cat called Jet and some fish. I love to try new skills; I am currently trying to get better at crocheting, it's taking some time though!
I am Mrs Wilds, and I have worked in our school office since September 2009. I hope to be able to provide assistance with any questions you may have regarding your child’s school day, and extend a very warm welcome to all.
Hello! I'm Mrs Fenton, and I have the pleasure of teaching the wonderful Reception children
here at Longsands Community Primary School. Every day is an adventure, and I feel so lucky to guide our little learners as they embark on their own journey of discovery. Teaching young children is like planting seeds – with a little care and encouragement, they grow into curious, confident, and kind individuals.
I am passionate about the importance of play and outdoor learning. I am qualified Level 3 Forest School Lead and Outdoor Activity Instructor. During sessions, we love to experience the natural environment, while caring and respecting the fascinating world around us, embracing all weathers. I also enjoy leading RE, developing the spiritual, social and emotional needs of children, learning about different religions, faiths and beliefs, preparing them for the diverse world around them. At home, I am a mother of two primary aged children and I enjoy baking, day trips and cooking family meals.
I’m a passionate teacher with a love for exercise, good food and books. When I’m not in the classroom you’d normally find me outdoors either up a mountain, on or in a lake. Teaching and working with children brings me immense joy, as I get to nurture young minds and help them grow. Longsands holds a special place in my heart, as it’s where I began my teaching career. The memories and experiences from my time here so far have helped shape me into the teacher I am. I believe in fostering creativity, curiosity, and a love for learning, all while staying true to my commitment to the individual development of each child.
I am privileged to teach at Longsands for 25 years now, and have supported the school's growth over this time. I believe that emotional wellbeing is vital to child development and have a calm and nurturing approach. I am passionate about igniting children’s love of reading and the development of skills in PE, Design Technology and Art, which I hope will stay with them for life! I have two teenage sons who I support with their various sporting activities and a mischievous cat! When I have spare time, I enjoy supporting PNE, yoga, pilates and watching shows at the theatre.
As a teacher at Longsands, I believe that learning should be a joyful adventure.
When I'm not in the classroom, you can find me hiking with my trusty sidekick, Frankie the cocker spaniel, out with various hiking groups or exploring new destinations in my camper van. I love to see children progress in their journey through school, they not only acquire knowledge and skills, but they also develop
important qualities like confidence, curiosity, and a love for learning.
