Safeguarding

Longsands Community Primary School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the physical, mental and emotional welfare of every pupil.

Staff at Longsands maintain a professional curiosity about the lives and lived experiences of our pupils, recognising that It might be the simplest acts of kindness, compassion and understanding that make a difference. What really matters to us is that the school culture provides safe, secure and nurturing relationships within a trusted and safe environment.

We implement a whole-school preventative approach to managing safeguarding concerns, ensuring that the wellbeing of pupils is at the forefront of all action taken. We work closely with families to ensure that support is given at the earliest sign of need.

We recognise that no single professional can have a full picture of a child’s needs and circumstances. We recognise that if children and families are to receive the right help at the right time, everyone who comes into contact with them has a role to play in identifying concerns, sharing information and taking prompt action. Our Staff and Governors receive annual training to support their role in Safeguarding our children.

Our policy sets out a clear and consistent framework for delivering this commitment, in line with safeguarding legislation and statutory guidance.
