Physical Education at Longsands

At Longsands, we provide a high-quality, challenging Physical Education curriculum that is fun, engaging and inspires all pupils to succeed and excel. We recognise the important part that a strong Physical Education curriculum and extra-curricular opportunities play in raising children’s aspirations, self-esteem, emotional and physical wellbeing.

We support excellence in PE through promoting healthy and active lifestyles, engaging in competitive activities and developing a love for physical education.

Our close partnership with Preston PESSPA provides opportunities for all children to experience competition and activity, School Games competitions and half termly inter-house competitions.

At Longsands, we learn to move and move to learn.  Within our curriculum, knowledge and skills are built upon through a wide range of sports. Many of these are extended through our wider curriculum offer. We strive to ensure that when children leave Longsands, they are physically literate and have a set of core values, which will have a long-lasting impact and that they continue to enjoy the benefits of physical movement within a healthy lifestyle.
